Canva: The Best Social Media App for Content Creators
Canva: The Best Social Media App for Content Creators
In the world that we live in, there is literally an app for everything. Social media of course is the area that is provided with the most apps so that today’s content creator or public relations professional can make the best out of all the social media platforms available to them. Although there are many great apps and social media tools that are available, I have found Canva to be one of the very best.
So, what is Canva?
Canva started in 2012 as a resource for college students who had a hard time learning the basics of graphic design. Over time this company and social media tool has grown to have over 10 Million users and 100 Million Designs created. I love Canva and have been using it for over 2 years now. Because I have a YouTube channel I have found it to be the most professional looking with small amount of graphic design skill. I have been able to create templates with color schemes and more. This is one of the best graphic design applications in my opinion.

Why Public Relations professionals should use it.
As a public relations professional, brand strategist or content creator, we can all agree that time is always of the essence. We all need an app that helps us create great content in as little time as possible so that we can stay current. Canva also has a feature called Canva for work that allows you to save fonts and change dimensions of your graphic without having to recreate your design. Say that you want to make a graphic promoting a sale that your business is having. You want the graphics to be the same for your Instagram post and your Instagram stories. With Canva for work, you are able to easily transition that graphic into the proper dimensions without losing the integrity of your design. It is a really great feature and now with mobile it’s even easier.
Pros and Cons
With any app or anything – for that matter- has pros and cons. Although Canva is creative, easy and versatile, there are still a couple of things that can cause frustration from time to time. In my personal experience with Canva, there have been times when uploading certain files that just wouldn’t upload. This became an inconvenience to me especially when I used to upload my files from the computer at home so that I could make graphics on the go. Another thing that can cause frustration is the small indication of pricing on certain graphics. Although there is a free version of Canva they do have premium graphics and designs. There have been times in the past where I would create a graphic and be prepared to download and use on my social media platforms and would be told I have to pay. I hope that in the future, Canva can be more clear about those prices when their consumers are choosing designs.
Mobile Ease

Another great thing about this app is that it has a mobile version. Initially I would use this tool on my computer from their website, but now that Canva has provided the convenience of mobility with their app, I can edit blog graphics and YouTube thumbnails when I am on the run. One of the best features on their mobile app is the preset designs for platforms that work best on mobile like Instagram and Facebook this adds even more ease when you need to make a quick, high quality graphic.
Wish App
Although canva is a great app, I can only imagine how easy my life would be if I had an app that was created with artificial intelligence. This app would give me a series of questions and would ask me to upload previous content and upcoming event or project dates and would create trending high quality content for me. I would receive notification of new designs and could choose between the options and post them to social media from the app.
In closing, in spite of the millions upon millions of apps I believe that Canva is a great app for any public relations professionals to have in their arsenal. I hope that this review was insightful and you are able to utilize this tool for the success of your PR endeavors.
